    Live on Bidwell Plaza with Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra Members - Mountain Gloom and Mountain Glory

    Chill with us at our evening music series, “Live on the Bidwell Plaza.”

    Pack a picnic and join us Tuesday, August 30, 5:30 – 7 p.m. on CTAC’s Bidwell Plaza and groove to family-friendly tunes. Limited chairs and picnic tables are available for seating; bringing a folding chair is recommended. Cash Bar available.

    About Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra Members - Mountain Gloom and Mountain Glory

    Traverse City-based duo Mountain Gloom and Mountain Glory is comprised of Kim Teachout (fiddle and voice) and her husband Matthew Valdiviez (guitar and voice). Their
    repertoire includes a wide array of traditional country, honky-tonk, western swing, bluegrass, and folk songs.

    Kim holds a master’s in viola performance from the University of Colorado and serves as principal violist with the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra, Associate Principal Viola with the Traverse Symphony Orchestra, she is also a member of the Los Altos Viola Quartet, and the annual Baroque on Beaver Festival. Matthew holds an M.Phil. in English Language and Literature from Yale and has been playing guitar since he was first introduced to it in a high school guitar class. Kim and Matthew started playing together in 2010 while living in Albuquerque, NM exploring various country and bluegrass genres, as well as Argentinian tango, Italian folk songs, and Irish fiddle. In the Traverse City
    area, they enjoy playing at local wineries, restaurants, and weddings.

    Mountain Gloom and Mountain Glory will present a program titled “Bridging the Gap Between Folk and Classical” which will include selections of honky-tonk, western swing, and classical pieces at Bidwell Outdoor Plaza at 5:30 on August 30, 2022.
