Kurt Anderson

Kurt Anderson began painting in 1995 and has never looked back. An outdoor lover, he naturally gravitated toward Plein Air. His goal is to paint the light rather than the object on which it lands. He often prefers his loose, authentic  plein air studies to more rendered studio pieces. “In the field, my goal is to get the composition, color and values down. Non essential details are edited out, forming a stronger statement.”

 He has participated in numerous competitions and has garnered many awards, most recently, shared Artists Choice Award 2018 Paint Grand Traverse. He is a member of Oil Painters of America and American Impressionist Society.

"Our artistic expressions are simply a collection of our prior exposure to the artists that have come before us. We take bits and pieces of the styles and techniques that strike a chord with us, add our life experiences and emotions, and when blended together, guide our brushes on canvas."
