Description

Crooked Tree Arts Center is pleased to host this collection of work by Charlevoix artist Trish Morgan. Through her skill and sensitivity, Trish renders common-place subject matter with gentle grace and beauty in a style she describes as "rustic romantic." Driven by the relationships between light and shadow, her paintings capture the unique shapes and luminosity of a moment.

Trish Morgan graduated from Kendall College of Art and Design in 1987 with a BFA in Illustration. After a few years in the commercial art field, she moved back to her hometown of Charlevoix, Michigan, to pursue a career as a watercolor artist. The past years have been spent entering shows, competitions and studying with renowned watercolor artists in the United States and Europe. Her work has been accepted into the Michigan Watercolor Society, Georgia Watercolor Society, Louisiana Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America’s annual juried exhibitions with many awards and recognitions, culminating in a first place national award in 2008. She is proud to have exhibited at the prestigious Charlevoix Waterfront Art Fair for over 25 years. 

Trish's approach to painting is a quest to take ordinary subject matter and render it memorable. Her imagery is chosen usually for light and shadow—She enjoys the way sunlight falls across architecture, reflects in unexpected areas and creates wonderfully shaped shadows. Watercolor, for Trish, portrays this luminosity in the most delicate and surprising way.
