New Year's Eve at the Arts Center and Petoskey District Library
For more than a decade, Crooked Tree Arts Center has been hosting the accessible, fun-for-all-ages New Year’s Eve at the Arts Center. This beloved event continues this month, ringing in 2019 with the wonderful Petoskey community. The festive lineup promises a variety of entertainment. Since the beginning, it has been tradition for all areas of the Arts Center to be filled with refreshments and creative activities, for both participating and observing. Musical performances, arts and crafts, pottery, balloon tying, face painting, magic workshops, and a pizza buffet, are just some of the highlights on the schedule. Special activities and opportunities are scheduled across the street at the Petoskey District Library, too, including karaoke and a confetti room.
Musical guests for the community celebration is headlined by 1000 Watt Prophets from Traverse City, as well as a line-up of local musicians. Performances will take place in the cupola at the library and all throughout CTAC and the Carnegie Building.
The evening’s festivities conclude with the “Midnight at 9,” Times Square-style ball drop on East Mitchell Street. The outdoor festivities begin at 8:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public. Roy Harvey will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and lead the crowd in the annual singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
New Year’s Eve at the Arts Center will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018, from 5 -9 p.m. Performances, activities, and workshops will be put on by CTAC instructors, area artists and organizations, including Blissfest Music Organization and Petoskey District Library, among others. Admission buttons are $10 for adults and $5 for students and are on sale at Crooked Tree, the Library and online at MyNorth.com.
This event is sponsored in part by the Kroeger-Mainland Family Fund at PHSACF and in partnership with the Petoskey District Library and Blissfest Music Organization.
