Bring your favorite painting supplies and join a group of local artists experiencing visual challenges. This is a FREE drop-in opportunity to connect with other artists. This group is open to all students who enjoy painting.
ABOUT VIP
The VIP Group’s founding members are artists experiencing varying degrees of vision loss. To accommodate loss of vision, but continue painting, they were determined to evolve toward an increasingly “loose”, impressionistic style. Using watercolor, water-based acrylic, and alcohol ink on various surfaces, (watercolor paper, yupo, ceramic tile), assures some level of artistic spontaneity….especially when they constrained their production cycle-time, often limiting drawing and painting time to less than 10 minutes total per piece! In many cases, these artists produced some of the best and most creative work of their lives.
When this method of “speed-painting” using difficult to control pigments & surfaces was introduced to beginning adult painters, the results were incredible! Not only was this method of group-style participation non-intimidating and really fun, but some excellent artwork was also produced!
Crooked Tree Arts Center will be hosting the VIP Group of painters, on a weekly basis, in our Traverse City studio-classroom. The VIP program will also include monthly speakers and demonstrations. The VIP program, including both weekly studio time and monthly lectures, are open to adults from beginners to seasoned painters.
