Join us for a creative week in CTAC's art studios! Create new projects every day focused on art and design concepts. Instructor Svetlana Ottney is supportive, inspirational, and highly knowledgeable. Young artists will begin to build a solid understanding of art fundamentals while creating their own unique works of art.
During the June Young Master's session, participants will work with a wide variety of 2D and 3D materials to make creative original pieces inspired by organic designs found in nature. Experiment with airdry clay, acrylic and watercolor paint, glass mosaic, fibers and sewing, and markers.
MONDAY
On the first day of class, students will work with freeform construction and create a still-life sculpture using airdry clay.
TUESDAY
Tuesday, students will learn about sequential art through accordion books. Using their own sequential narrative, students will create a custom accordion book using watercolor and marker (example: the life of an apple).
WEDNESDAY
Inspired by the intricate organic designs of butterflies, students will learn about curvilinear lines and shapes to create their own expressive butterfly designs.
THURSDAY
Continuing to take inspiration from butterflies, students will use glass mosaic to explore texture, relief sculpture, and color.
FRIDAY
On the final day of class, students will use fibers to create and embellish a butterfly pillow.
*Projects will be modified as needed to suit class interest and skill level.
