DESCRIPTION

Plein Air nocturnes, steal the show. They impart drama and a surprising perspective on the world. 

Did you know that there is a completely different palette to a nocturne? That all you were taught about shadows goes out the window, as light sources come from many directions? That you don’t use black and that a nocturne is full of jewel toned colors? 

You will learn the secrets of a successful nocturne in this one evening, plein air workshop. 

Sunset is 9:26, but we can set up, discuss what we are painting and block in your composition, in time for nightfall.

Bring your plein air gear and nocturne palette. This workshop will take place in Suttons Bay.  Registered students will receive a meeting location prior to the start date.

Debra Howard is a full time, award winning plein air, oil painter, currently residing on Traverse Bay, Omena Michigan. 

Her work has been featured in the American Scholar and Plein Air Magazines. She is a Signature Member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association (MAPAPA). She offers artists talks, plein air workshops and has a regular plein air group that meets in northern Leelanau County. She has a passionate national collector base.

Debra has been juried into prestigious Plein Air competitions in over 20 states, winning many events, including, Savannah, Harford, Solomons, Floyd, Glen Arbor, Northport, Ellicot City, Dexter, Crisfield and Mountain Maryland.

Cancellation Policy for Traverse City Adult Workshops

Cancellation
Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any multi-day, sequential-day workshop that does not meet its minimum student enrollment 14 days prior to the first workshop session. If a workshop is cancelled by CTAC for lack of enrollment, CTAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid. (Cash payments will be refunded by check.)

Student Withdrawal
Requests for cancellation by the student at least sixty (60) days prior to the first day of the workshop will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee).  Requests for cancellation by the student between thirty (30) and fifty-nine (59) days prior to the first day of the workshop will receive a 50% tuition refund . NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than thirty (30) days prior to the first day of the workshop.
