    DESCRIPTION

Join artist Lisa Wicka in making a collection of multi-color prints using linoleum blocks and the jigsaw technique. In this three-day workshop, you will learn how to create an image, carve, and then cut up your block in a way that allows you to experiment with color, mark, and texture. By taking apart the block, inking it, and putting it back together, the linoleum becomes a flexible surface to play with ink in a multitude of unexpected ways. Participants will print using the in-house press and additional hand printing techniques. You will create a significant collection of varied prints by the end of the workshop!

    All supplies provided.

    LEARN MORE

The jigsaw linocut process involves carving a design into one block of linoleum, then cutting that block up into different sections so it can be printed in different colors. This allows for more detail and variation than other printmaking methods. Each piece can be inked separately, then put the jigsaw puzzle back together before printing.

Linocut is a great printmaking technique for beginners because it’s easy to learn and requires minimal tools and equipment. You can create stunning prints with just a few supplies, including linoleum blocks, carving tools, ink, and paper. At Crooked Tree Arts Center, we have a Conrad printing press which will help you create consistent, beautiful prints, but you can learn to print by hand as well.
