My art is a reflection of who I am, what I feel or experience about the external world and both ends up on paper or canvas or in a sculpture. Although each creation is truly about my inner landscapes, the resulting artwork can be a traditional landscape or a totally open composition from one of my own revelations. To keep my approach fresh, I use various artistic methods. I have an open ended approach with several mediums. To date, I have worked in oils to portray more intense emotions, watercolor and pastels for landscapes and acrylics for abstracts and sculptures. As I observe or envision a scene, I give a free rein to my imagination in a medium for the best perceived outcome. I enjoy bringing unique outlooks to autobiographical stories creating an atmosphere of conceptual depth with generous color and texture.
Living in northern Michigan with sweeping meadows, forests and water has reinforced my use of a colorful palette. It is so easy, surrounded by beautiful landscapes to slip in natural poetic paintings.
