Imaging the World in 2126
As communities across the country reflect on America’s 250th anniversary, 350 artists look forward instead of back — to imagine the world one hundred years from now. What might life look like in 2126? Not only in a literal or technological sense, but through the lens of human experience, culture, environment, identity, and the ways we live, connect, and create.
This exhibition encouraged artists to explore the future on many levels. Visions are hopeful, reflective, cautionary, playful, or poetic. They consider the evolution of cities and landscapes, the role of technology, shifts in lifestyle and community, or the enduring elements of humanity that transcend time. The future is imagined through realism or abstraction, symbolism or narrative, subtle suggestion or bold speculation.
350 is not about predicting what will be — it is about revealing what we value now, and how today’s dreams, concerns, and innovations shape tomorrow’s possibilities. Through painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and beyond, artists contribute their unique perspective on the century ahead.
