Biography

Lyudmila Tomova Clark is a globally acclaimed, award-winning artist known for her luminous impressionist style. Working primarily in oil and watercolor, she specializes in figurative, portrait, and plein air painting. Her work blends abstraction with realism, capturing atmosphere, emotion, and movement with bold expression.
Her work has earned more than 50 awards in national and international exhibitions over the past two years, including 21 first-place honors. A Top 40 finalist in the 2024 Plein Air Salon Competition, she has exhibited with prominent organizations such as the Art Renewal Center, The Almenara Collection, American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, and the National Oil & Acrylic Painters Society. She is a Signature Member of NOAPS and several watercolor societies nationwide, and has been invited to elite plein air events across the country including Easton, Telluride, and Cape Ann.


Lyudmila’s work has been featured in leading publications such as PleinAir, Southwest Art, International Artist, Art of Watercolour, and Walter Magazine, as well as in Splash and Strokes of Genius 8. Originally from Sofia, Bulgaria, she holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bulgaria. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1990 and continues to work as a full-time artist and instructor nationwide.
