First Fridays for Foodies: Small Town Allergy Mom, Erika Keiswetter

erika_keiswetterJoin Erika Keiswetter, author of the successful blog, as she presents tips on how to effectively prepare your kitchen to entertain guests with life-threatening food allergies, sensitivities, and intolerances. Erika will discuss the importance of kitchen sanitization and how to prevent cross-contamination of allergens while cooking. She will provide a brief demonstration of how to prepare her delicious Dairy Free Lasagna Florentine and will have samples of her famous vegan cupcakes.

Erika earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Michigan State University. She has held many positions in the political, financial, and legal research industries over the last decade and is currently President of her own business. As a mother of two young boys that both have multiple life-threatening food allergies, she has dedicated much of her time to food allergy advocacy in Northern Michigan and throughout the state. She worked with Central Michigan University Public Radio to help gain awareness of recent legislation that passed in Michigan to require schools to stock Epinephrine. Her new blog is quickly growing acclaim and gaining many followers throughout the food allergy community. In addition to volunteering at her children’s school regularly, Erika enjoys outdoor activities with her family and allergy friendly gourmet cooking in her free time.

Crooked Tree Arts Center and the Petoskey District Library will present “First Friday for Foodies” culinary series in CTAC’s newly renovated commercial kitchen between 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM.
