Docent Tours

Sign up your class for a fun and educational tour of the exhibits for the entire school year!  If transportation funds are low for your school, contact the arts center for financial assistance. Click here to download the Busing Scholarship Application.

In recognition of the broad range of subject matter embraced by serious visual artists throughout history, the Board of Directors and professional staff of Crooked Tree Arts Center recommend that all teachers of elementary through high school students preview exhibits at the Arts Center, in person, prior to bringing students through a show. 2016 Annual Juried Fine Arts Exhibition

Carolyn SwiftThe exhibition includes nearly 100 works by artists working in a variety of media, including drawing, painting, jewelry, and sculpture. There are landscapes, portraits, still lifes and decorative works. This exhibition is a wonderful survey of art making practices, and artistic styles.  Image: Carolyn Swift

 

 

Soliloquy: The Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors

Jackie RybinskiThe exhibition includes over 60 paintings and sculptures by the women in the Detroit Society of Women Painters and Sculptors. The DSWPS is one of the oldest self-sustaining women’s art organizations in the United States, founded by Lillian Burk Meeser on February 23, 1903.  Image: Jackie Rybinski

Tinker, Tailor, Welder, Weaver: The Art of Assemblage

The exhibit features sculptures and collages made from found objects and images. Old shoes, crutches, ladders, jello molds, and other found objects are carefully assembled and engineered to create figurative sculptures. 2017 Youth Art Show

youth art showBoth galleries at CTAC are dedicated to showcase the creativity of young artists from Charlevoix & Emmet Counties from kindergarten through 12th grade. The exhibition will be open from April 1, 2017- April 25, 2017. The reception is on Saturday, April 8, 2017 between 2-4 pm.

Docent Tour Schedule:

9:30 AM – 10:15 AM – Gallery Tour

10:15 AM – 11:00 AM – Hands-On Activity

Things to Remember:

  • Students should meet in lower level entry way prior to 9:30 AM.
  • To assist our docents, students should wear name tags.
  • Please provide one adult chaperone per ten students attending the tour.
  • In the event of a school closing, docent tours will be cancelled.
