Ansel Adams: Masterworks Docent Program

Crooked Tree Arts Center invites you to participate in our Ansel Adams: Masterworks Docent Program this summer! Guided gallery tours will be offered, free of charge, to patrons throughout the duration of the exhibit. CTAC is seeking docents to give gallery tours on the following dates:

Tuesdays, June 6 & 20 at 10 AM
Thursday, June 15 & 29 at 1 PM
Thursdays, July 13  & 27 at 1 PM
Tuesday, July 18 at 10 AM
Tuesdays, August 1, 15 & 29 at 10 AM
Thursdays, August 10 & 24 at 1 PM
Thursdays, September 7, 14, 21 & 28  at 1 PM

Docent Training consists of five parts: three lectures, a documentary film and a Docents’ Docent Tour.  The first part is a previously recorded lecture, “The Magic of Photography” that can be watched online.  The second part is a documentary, “Ansel Adams: A Documentary Film” by Ric Burns, which is also available to view online.  The third part, a lecture given by John Fergus-Jean, will be held in the Carnegie Building on Tuesday, April 4 at 10 a.m.  The fourth part, and final lecture, “Reverence of the Land” with Elizabeth Fergus-Jean, will be held in the Gilbert Gallery on Tuesday, May 23 at 10 a.m. Docent Training concludes with a Docents’ Docent Tour on either May 24 or June 5. Please see below for details, links to lectures, videos and support materials.

The training is intended to provide you with the information, strategies and structure to lead successful docent tours.  CTAC also invites you to bring your own interests, stories, and experience to the tours.

Docent tours are a vital part of our educational program.  We hope you are interested in this great opportunity to both learn and serve our arts community during this incredible summer exhibit.  Please email Megan DeWindt if you are interested in serving as a summer docent.
