In this three day workshop you will learn 5 principle techniques of stitch resist, creating a one of a kind silk scarf or silk pillow. The five stitches that will be taught are: Ori Nui, Ne-maki, Mira, Maki-age, and Mokume. Once you have had some time to practice these stitches you will then apply these stitches in the pattern of your choice to create your own design. You will also be learning the process of indigo dying, as Catherine shares her experience from her travels and studying with indigo dyers as well as her experience of growing her own indigo in mid Michigan. All supplies are included. You will need to contact CTAC with your choice of creating a silk scarf to a silk square to be used to create a pillow (sewing pillow will be responsibility of student after the class has ended.)
