Description

The goal for this first annual summer art experience is to make a difference in young artists lives by introducing them to the fine arts fundamental principles of visual art.  This will be fostered through developing core skills in' various media.  In addition, our hope is to enlighten students on a variety of periods throughout art history by depicting draftsman, painters, sculptors and designers who significantly influence the way we look at art.

The curriculum was created to support individuality in student’s artistic expression.  Students will explore and gain knowledge in various media, techniques and processes and at the same time, enhance their visual communication skills.

Here's what we have planned for our week-long, fun-filled, June camp:

Monday

Drawing  Study of variety of approaches to drawing with various media inspired by the works of American artist, Ben Shahn.

Tuesday

Landscape Painting Inspired by French Impressionist, Claude Monet, students will explore principles of landscape by creating a dynamic asymmetrical composition including geometric and biomorphic shapes using a variety of watercolor media and processes.

Wednesday

Painting on Glass Students will learn to develop technical skill and creative response in handling enamel acrylic paint on a glass object. They will explore the endless beauty of floral designs and examine a portfolio of famous American master Georgia O’Keeffe. T

Thursday

Florals in Impasto  Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh and his ideas on impasto technique, students will explore dynamic composition and be introduced to the application of paint and modeling paste with pallet knives.

Friday

Decorating with Stencils  Using a variety of acrylic painting techniques, students will create a project that expresses their personality!

Note: Weather-permitting, this camp may take walking field trips. Please send your child with appropriate shoes and outwear. A healthy snack will be provided daily.
