    Description

This program is designed for artists grades 9 - 12. Students in 8th grade may be considered with portfolio review and recommendation.

    Class meets Saturdays 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and Tuesdays 3:30 - 6:30 pm.

Join us for a six-week in-person program offered to current high school students (grades 9 – 12) interested in building new skills for their creative pursuits. This studio-based program helps you develop a strong creative portfolio and includes opportunities for critique, portfolio reviews, and guidance on documenting and presenting artwork. The course includes ample time and space to develop your own creative work, while also providing lessons in art materials and methods, art history, and professional practices. Students who complete this program will be eligible to participate in an annual showcase at Crooked Tree Arts Center.

This class is taught by Egan Franks Holzhausen, a studio arts instructor and professional teaching-artist who provides individualized instruction to help students reach their goals and create portfolio quality work. Students in 8th grade may be considered for the program (as space allows) with a recommendation from an art teacher, mentor, CTAC faculty, and/or a portfolio.

    SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE.
For our introductory year, this program will be offered at reduced tuition. Need-based and merit-based scholarships are available. Scholarships may cover up to full tuition. To apply for a need-based scholarship, click here. To be considered for a merit-based scholarship, contact Egan Franks Holzhausen at egan@crookedtree.org to schedule a portfolio review and interview.

Cancellation Policy for Petoskey Classes (In-Person)

    Student Withdrawal
Requests for cancellation by the student at least seven (7) days prior to the first day of class will be honored (minus a $20 processing fee).  NO REFUNDS will be given for a student cancellation made less than seven (7) days in advance of the first day of the class.

    Class Cancellations (Weather)
When Public Schools of Petoskey are closed due to inclement weather, CTAC-Petoskey classes are canceled. We will do our best to provide a make-up opportunity for the missed class. Refunds will not be given if the student is unable to attend the rescheduled session of class. Workshops and one-time classes will be handled on a per-class basis. School of Ballet students are asked to make up the missed class in an alternate session approved by their instructor.

    Student Absence
We are unable to offer refunds or make-up sessions for classes missed due to student absence.

    Minimum Enrollment
Crooked Tree Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class that does not meet its minimum student enrollment prior to the first class session. If a class is cancelled by CTAC for lack of enrollment, CTAC will offer a full refund to the student in the manner in which tuition was paid. (Cash payments will be refunded by check.)
