The Captured Moment: Incorporating the figure within a landscape setting with watercolor
Students are encouraged to capture a “fleeting moment in time” and to paint a figurative composition in movement or action, incorporating a landscape or interior setting. During this 6-week course, students will learn to capture the figure, unobserved and natural, portraying them either at play, work, or rest. With Julia’s guidance, students will design their composition, and as we paint, students will explore the following:
- color theory
- creating blacks, grays and browns
- experimenting with negative painting
- various textural techniques
- special effects to create those “pops” of piqued interest
Students will use a subject from their own photograph of the figure and chosen scene. Note: when taking or choosing a photo, please kind in mind the lighting, values, color and composition.
Supply List provided *Some preliminary work necessary before class begins.
This class is geared toward students who have completed Watercolor Fundamentals classes and above.
