Draw. Carve. Print. Those are the three steps Natalia takes to create a mixture of hand-pulled linoleum block prints inspired by nature. Her earthy, dynamic designs reflect her passion for the environment by showcasing a multitude of perspectives on Michigan wildlife, landscapes, and lifestyle.
After carving her first block in a college art class, printmaking immediately became Natalia’s passion. She enjoys exploring printmaking’s place on the border between art and craft, as well as the challenge of flipping traditional positive-negative space techniques when creating her work. Her multi-color prints fall into three categories: reduction prints, multi-block prints, and mixed media prints. The rich mixed media block prints combine screen printing, paper collage and linocut, or acrylic painting and linocut.
While block printing is at the core of her work, she also creates screen prints, acrylic paintings, illustrations, and hand-bound books.Recent and upcoming commissions and exhibitions of Natalia’s work include:
