John O’Neill paints as he lives - with passion. Good art must be true and beautiful, which is not necessarily pretty. His oil paintings include landscapes, narrative paintings, pointillist paintings, and experimental works. Sculptures include alabaster, found objects, and constructed works. His work has been selected for invitational, museum, gallery, and juried shows. John is world-famous among a small but discerning group of collectors.
John learned to paint from other painters, from living painters to the old masters. Don’t go to a museum with him unless you’ve brought provisions. He focuses on good painters, observes, and paints. And paints. And paints.
The Dennos Museum, International Society of Experimental Artist, ArtPrize Grand Rapids, the Grosse Pointe Art Association, The Johnson & Johnson Collection, National Nail Collection, and the Birmingham Bloomfield Arts Center have all shown John’s work. The Michigan Fine Arts Competition has selected his work eight times. Collections from New York to California and from Oregon to Florida include his work.
John hopes that you delight in the gift of sight, in the beauty of creation, and the power of art to awaken compassion. Beyond this, let the art speaks for itself.
