Art History and Inspiration
Theresa Youngman began expressing her artistic talent in watercolor, pastels and acrylics. The recognition of her desire to pursue art resulted in colorful expressions of flowers, landscapes and river paintings. She grew up in Northern Michigan where, as a gardener, she had a close relationship with botanicals. Her love of color brings vibrancy to her freestyle form of painting. She loves to spend time in her studio accompanied by her two devoted miniature Australian Sheperds. She is a student of art, and attends many classes, always improving her skill level and seeking new ways of expressing the vibrant color in her work. Her grandfather, Karl Ufer and his cousin, the legendary Walter Ufer of Toas, NM, also influenced her colorful work. Theresa's love of nature is evident in her work, evoking the natural beauty of her surroundings.
Artist Statement
Working as an artist is an endeavor that allows time to stand still. All focus is on the moment, the subject. It is truly joyful. Being able to produce a painting that others appreciate is gratifying. I have heard comments like "every time I see your painting, it makes me happy." That is truly the best compliment I can have. I have also enjoyed donating my art to specific causes. Painting comes from the heart and soul and is unique to each individual.
