Artist Profile

Sarah Elizabeth Fox Wangler was born in Traverse City, and has lived in the Northern Michigan area most of her life. She has visited almost all fifty states and currently spends her time creating art in her studio in the woods near West Branch, Michigan.

Sarah received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She studied metal smithing, drawing, painting & printmaking & sculpture, as well as paper making & mixed media. 

Sarah enjoys creating a diverse style of artwork that draws from the industrial areas of urban environments to the natural outdoors. Sarah has also pursued sculptural welding, tattooing on skin as a living canvas, pigment research, and is a jack of all trades with art skills having grown up in an artistic family.

Sarah’s passion lies in creating art that involves the mythical, historical and theoretical context of her subject matter. She enjoys making art that feels personal to the viewer in order to pull them in and capture their inner creativity and emotions. She using found materials such as wire, old metals with patinas, twine, animal bones and feathers found in nature, re cycled paint and other up cycled found objects.

Sarah’s art studio is a fun place to visit and newcomers are always welcome.
She accepts commissions and also teaches private art lessons. 
Her eclectic art studio is surrounded by State Land and is up on a high breezy hill with lots of wild animals in the woods and pet chickens running around the yard and garden.
