Artist Profile

Robert Norman

Roman the Painter creates expressive, impressionistic works in oil and oil pastel, capturing the light and mood of landscapes, florals, and nature scenes with a painterly boldness that's entirely his own. With over 25 years of experience as an artist and craftsman, Roman brings a craftsman's discipline and a painter's eye to every canvas. His recent work layers oil pastels over oil on acrylic-primed panels, a technique that adds richness and immediacy to subjects ranging from the iconic lighthouse at Charlevoix to wildflower fields and evocative still lifes. Based in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and seasonally in northern Michigan, his originals and archival prints are available online and at select fine art shows throughout the Midwest and South.

Galleries

Roman is a founding member of Studio 34 in downtown Eureka Springs, Arkansas — his home gallery, where he makes regular appearances throughout the year. His work is also featured at Visions on Main, also in downtown Eureka Springs. Two additional gallery locations in northern Michigan are currently being finalized and will be announced soon.

During the summer season, Roman can be found at fine art festivals throughout northern Michigan, including shows in Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and Bay Harbor — where he is a top prize-winning artist — as well as Charlevoix, a place he considers his second home.
