Artist Profile

Rebecca Deneau

Oil painting became a love of mine at a young age. I took classes as a teen at the local art league, and my love for painting eventually led me to study art in college. Flowers were my very first painting muse, and working with them has always been a joyful experience for me. That love grew into a career as a floral designer and developed into a passion for gardening.

I grew up in the Chicago area, surrounded by an abundance of culture and art, and still enjoy regular trips back to spend time with family and visit museums. Traverse City, Michigan, my husband’s hometown, has been my home for the past 15 years.

I love the slower pace, the people, and the beautiful landscape of Northern Michigan. My husband and I have three nature-loving boys and a new pup named Penny.  Both my native roots in Chicago and the open lands of Michigan deeply inspire my work.

My studio is located in my home, which allows me the opportunity to gather fresh inspiration from my garden, nearby meadows, and forests. When I am not painting, you can find me in the woods or on the lake shore exploring with my family.
