Artist Profile

Jane Kendra

I am a life-long artist who works in watercolor and acrylics and also enjoys exploring colored pencil and graphite. I am interested in many types of medium and subjects and enjoy exploring as many as I can which has given me a broad body of work including illustrations, intuitive painting and decorative art.

I began college as an art major in the late 1980’s but was unsure of a career path so I pivoted into another interest, architecture. I received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Lawrence Tech University and worked in the healthcare field for 20 years as an architectural designer. I lost my job during the pandemic and I found myself with a chance to re-evaluate my career. I shifted my focus from architecture to the art world where my initial passion and college education in art helped lay a foundation for my rebirth as an artist.

My natural attention to detail has guided my interest in painting to be a documentation of form, color, and light. I am inspired by the endless variety of color, shape and form in nature whether working on a close-up detailed botanical painting or a distant landscape.
