Artist Profile

Ann (Annie) George's lifelong interest in art has blossomed into practice since her retirement from teaching at Northwestern Michigan College. A childhood on the shores of Lake Ontario imprinted a love of water and nature that Northern Michigan has only enhanced. Ann comes from a long line of gardeners and keeps that tradition alive growing old roses, flowers and fresh vegetables – which also become subjects for painting.

Through fellow artists, workshops, classes and trial and error, she continues to learn to express the exuberance of the natural world. She focuses on impressionistic interpretations of the birds, flowers, and land around us. She started in watercolor and has also worked in oil and pastel. Recently she has been discovering alcohol inks. Samples done in each medium are included on this page.

Her work has been displayed in several local venues over the past several years.
