
Young Writers Expo 2010
As part of the Crooked Tree Arts Center's Youth Arts Festival, CTAC is pleased to collaborate with the Petoskey News-Review to present the
8th Annual Young Writers Juried Exposition
The Young Writers Expo will be featured Saturday, April 24, 2010 wiith an awards reception being held from 2-4 p.m. Prizes to be awarded are:
- High School Prose and Poetry winners: 1st: $75, 2nd: $50, 3rd: $25 prizes, medal, and certificate.
- Middle and Elementary Winners: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners recieve a medal, prize, and certificate.
- Honorable Mentions recieve a certificate.
- All winners are invited to read their work aloud.
- Winning poetry and prose pieces will be published in the Petoskey News-Review on April 23, 2009.
- Light refreshments created by Boyne City's Hospitality Program will be served.
All young writers in the Charlevoix-Emmet ISD (or home school students in Charlevoix or Emmet Counties) may submit a work of poetry, prose or one of each. Work should be submitted on-line between 9:00 a.m., March 15, and 5:00 p.m. March 31, 2010.
Student work must meet the following requirements:
- Prose work may be fiction or non-fiction. All prose is limited to 1,000 words or fewer. All work should be a standard font, 12 point type, and double spaced.
- All poetic forms are acceptable. All works of poetry are limited to 500 words or fewer. All work should be a standard font and 12 point type.
- All work must be clearly labeled with the following information:
First Page: writer's full name, school name, teacher name
Second Page: writer's name and page number
- Work needs to be submitted on-line to CTAC by a teacher, principal, or parent.
- Work needs to be submitted in a readable computer file (Microsoft Word compatible).
- Work needs to be submitted on-line to CTAC no later than 5:00 p.m. March 31,. 2010.
- To submit work, use the Crooked Tree Arts Center's website: www.crookedtree.org. Students' work may be entered by accessing the Teacher Connection page on the CTAC Home Page (see the left column).
