The Crooked Tree Arts Center is pleased to offer free exhibitions to the public throughout the year, however, we also make our facility available to individuals and private groups for a variety of events held in our building. With two beautiful galleries, a 230-seat auditorium, art classrooms, practice rooms and a kitchen, the Arts Center is a wonderful place to host corporate or group events. We welcome you to come visit us to find the best space for your next business meeting, reception, holiday party, concert, or other special event. All areas are handicapped accessible, and parking is widely available. We are in downtown Petoskey, very near to shops, restaurants, and hotels. Ross Stoakes Theater

This renovated church sanctuary is now a delightful and functional space for special events. Complete with lighting and sound system, the theatre offers a comfortable place for larger seated events such as awards ceremonies, speaking engagements, concerts, plays and even weddings. The intricate and colorful stained glass windows add charm to the space, but can also be covered for evening performances or a more uniform appearance. Capacity: 225.  Edith Gilbert Gallery and West Gallery

Crooked Tree Arts Center is proud to offer excellent exhibitions showcasing both local and international works of art. The galleries change periodically, and some exhibits are better suited for events than others. The galleries can be used for special receptions and events depending on the style of the current exhibition and gallery configuration. Call or email to discuss your attendance and space needs.  

 Art Tree Sales Gallery

Filled with art from local Michigan artists, the Art Tree Gallery serves as a lobby area for the Ross Stoakes Theater and is the natural place for a reception before or after an event. Generally this area will be included in rentals for other areas.

 Visual Arts Room

The Visual Arts Room is available for special art classes or hands-on meetings. Bring in a group from your work for a special jewelry or card-making workshop, or host your child’s birthday party here. Capacity: 20.

 Bob Forman Kitchen

Kitchen rental is included in some of the rental packages for receptions and other events. Many area caterers are familiar with the kitchen and comfortable working here.

Corporate and Non-Profit Meetings

Looking for an interesting spot for your next Board Meeting? Host a breakfast, lunch or dinner meeting in one of our galleries, or hold your annual meeting in our theatre.

Rehearsal Dinners and Weddings

Are you looking for a sophisticated venue for a small-scale event? Our galleries offer an art-filled alternative to the traditional wedding venue. A snappy space for cocktail receptions for up to 75, and sit-down dinners for smaller groups, our galleries are perfect for mingling, and our theater makes a nice center for your ceremony.

Catering

We can recommend local caterers who are familiar with our kitchen and have catered events here in the past. If you wish to serve alcohol, you must get a liquor license for the event.

Decorations

Although the art itself will set the tone for your event, we can also recommend area florists for your centerpieces or a display. All decorations must be approved in advance by CTAC staff, and moving of artwork is not permitted.

Room Set-Up and Equipment

CTAC has a selection of chairs and tables, which can be set up for your event. Should these not be sufficient for your needs, we recommend contacting Taylor Rental (www.taylorrentalpetoskey.com; 231-347-1840) for a large array of linens, cocktail tables, tableware and other decorative items. We also have projectors and screens for your use.

Parking

We have a lot available for parking for evening events, and there is ample street parking available as well. There is no additional charge for parking, but street spots are metered during the day.

Music

The Arts Center will be pleased to recommend musicians for your event. There are many excellent musicians in the area offering a variety of styles. Please note that you are responsible for scheduling and fees.

Docents

Docents are trained with an understanding of the exhibits and will enhance your guests’ experience at the Arts Center by explaining the background of the pieces in the gallery. If you are interested in scheduling a docent for your guests during their visit, please let us know well in advance and we can arrange one for you for a fee.

Rental Rates and Fees

Rates vary according to party size, rooms utilized and duration of the event. We do require security deposits with a signed contract in advance of the event.
