Crooked Tree Youth Orchestra

Register today for the Crooked Tree Youth Orchestra's 2010-2011 season!

Classes begin Monday, September 20th at Crooked Tree Arts Center, Petoskey

Concert Orchestra - 5:30-6:30pm
Chamber Orchestra - 6:30-8:00pm

Concert Orchestra & Chamber Orchestra satellite classes will begin the week of October 11th.  Satellite classes for Concert Orchestra will be available in Alanson, Boyne City, Harbor Springs, East Jordan, and Charlevoix.  The Chamber Orchestra satellite class will be in East Jordan. 

Crooked Tree Youth Orchestra Programs

 Youth Orchestras -Concert: Jr. High level, entry level after Intermediate Strings Class
Chamber:   Advanced High School level strings
Symphony:  Chamber strings with winds, brass, and percussion from around the region

Rehearsal Information:  Rehearsals for the Concert Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra will begin Monday, September 20th, 2010 at Crooked Tree Arts Center. 

Concert Orchestra satellite classes in Boyne City, Beaver Island, Charlevoix, East Jordan, & Harbor Springs will begin in October. 

Tuition & Scholarship Information:Tuition for Crooked Tree Youth Orchestras is $125 for the year and $75 for each additional family member. 

Crooked Tree Arts Center will now require a copy of the first two pages of the family's 1040 income tax form for all scholarship applicants.  We are following the best practices of other arts organizations, such as Interlochen Center for the Arts, when reviewing scholarship application.  Our accounting manager is the only person who will review scholarship information and assist scholarship applicants.

Dorothy Gerber Strings Program in the Schools

For the 2010-11 school year, string classes will begin the week of October 11th.  Registration for classes will begin in September and registration cards can be obtained from your school's string orientation or by contacting the Crooked Tree Arts Center at (231) 347-4337.

The Strings Program in the Schools is offered to students in local community schools through the support of the Dorothy Gerber Music Education Foundation.  String classes are offered at two seperate playing levels:

Beginning Strings - Students from the 3rd grade and up with no prior strings knowledge can learn how to play the violin, viola, cello, or string bass.

Intermediate Strings - Students with successful completion of the Beginning Strings class or at least one year of prior playing experience on a string instrument.  After completion of the Intermediate strings class students advance to the Concert Orchestra with the Crooked Tree Youth Orchestras program.

SPRING CONCERT - MAY 15th, 2011

The Spring Concert on May 15th, 2011 at the John M. Hall, Bay View @ 3pm will showcase over 400 young string players from Alanson, Beaver Island, Boyne City, Boyne Falls, Charlevoix, East Jordan, Ellsworth, Harbor Springs, Pellston & Petoskey for the final performance of the season.
